to writers around the world
The 2020 Bristol Short Story Prize is open for
entries. The competition is open to all writers around the world whether
published or unpublished, UK or non-UK based. The closing date for entries is
midnight (BST) April 30th 2020.
Twenty stories will be shortlisted
and published in the Bristol Short Story Prize Anthology Volume 13. The
winner and two runners up will be selected from the shortlist and announced at
an awards ceremony in October 2020.
1st prize is £1,000, 2nd prize is
£500, 3rd prize is £250. Seventeen further prizes of £100 will be presented to
the remaining shortlisted writers.
Authors may enter as many stories as
they like. There is an entry fee of £9 for each story submitted to the
2020 Bristol Short Story Prize.
All shortlisted writers will receive
two free copies of the anthology. Prizes will be sent to any writer on the
shortlist who is unable to attend the awards ceremony.
The judging panel will be chaired by author and
creative writing lecturer, Billy Kahora. Billy will be joined on the
panel by award-winning publisher, Sharmaine Lovegrove, award-winning
writer, Anneliese Mackintosh, and manager of Foyles Bookshop in Bristol,
Tom Robinson.
